Seminar and Open House
Come join us on January 7th for our first Saturday Open House & Seminar with George Howell. From 9am to 11am, George will host a 'Coffee 101' seminar following the path coffee takes from the tree to your cup. Space is limited, so please call and register in advance. After the seminar, from 11am to 1pm, our doors will be open to all who want to try our coffee and chat with George.
New Coffee, La Esperanza, Colombia
This week we are proud to introduce the La Esperanza from Colombia. This small independent farm, owned by Mrs. Isabel Soto, covers a mere 5 acres, and is situated in the region of Tolima. Mrs. Soto is in her fifties and has four children. Despite the many hardships she has faced, including the loss of her husband 3 years ago, Mrs. Soto and her family carefully grew and hand-picked this beautifully crafted coffee. To reward their incredible effort, we paid the Soto family considerably over Fair Trade prices.
In order to preserve the unique and delicate flavor of the La Esperanza, we had the coffee specially packaged at the origin in vacuum sealed bags before it even left the mill. Using these bags halted the aging, and protected the coffee from odors and other damaging shipping conditions. This revolutionary process, Terroir's unique innovation in coffee exporting, yielded incredible results, delivering the freshest possible coffee.
Beautifully balanced between soft acidity and creamy body, the La Esperanza is ripe, round, sweet, and seamless from the moment it touches your tongue to the aftertaste. Subtle flavors of nuts and mellow chocolate mix with dried sweetened cranberry and fresh pomegranate. Those who miss La Minita (which we expect back around March!) should try this coffee; different flavors but similar smoothness.
We will be roasting the first batch of Mrs. Soto's La Esperanza this Monday January 9th and you can order it starting today at http://www.terroircoffee.com/store/ for $14.95.
